Jharkhand launches livelihood scheme for ultra-poor

Ranchi, May 22 (UNI) The Jharkhand government on Friday launched the Jharkhand Inclusive Livelihood Scheme (JH-SAY) aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of ultra-poor families across the state.
Launching the programme in Ranchi, Rural Development Minister Dipika Pandey Singh said Jharkhand's Ultra Poor Graduation Approach (UPAJ) had emerged as a successful model that was later adopted by the Centre under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
She said Jharkhand has been assigned the responsibility of covering 41,000 ultra-poor families under the first two phases of the programme.
During the event, approval cheques worth over Rs 44 crore were distributed for implementation of the scheme in East Singhbhum, Palamu, Godda, Simdega and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts.
The programme was organised by the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) and The/Nudge Institute.
